MEMBERSHIP
You are invited to become a member of the Acton Historical Society. Your dues will
pay for the
where items of local interest are visited in depth. In addition you will be able to attend
seven very interesting programs and three social functions, usually held on the third
Sunday of each month. We are the proud owners of the Hosmer House, an historic house
filled with local artifacts, which has been placed on the National Historic Register. Behind
the house is the very excellent Jenks Library, where information on local genealogy and
history may be obtained. A Barn containing early farm equipment also stands behind the
Hosmer House and rounds out our holdings.
That’s a lot to get for your dues!
We are always looking for volunteers to help out at various times. Help is needed in the
Jenks Library (training provided). Refreshments at our meetings are supplied by members
who bring cookies and other finger foods and help in the kitchen. Our Hosmer House Open
Houses are staffed with volunteers who guide visitors through the Hosmer House and our
Barn (training provided). Occasionally we plan a special event that requires the help of
many people. These events are lots of fun and with enough volunteers the work load is
light. Please consider where you might like to volunteer.
