Norman D. Lake Memorial Bridge

Location: Main Street (Route 27), South Acton, between intersections with School Street and High Street (over railroad tracks)

Norman D. Lake served the town of Acton in many ways, including as member and Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, Director of Civil Defense/Emergency Management, Director of the Auxiliary Fire Department, School Committee member and Chairman, incorporator and Board chairman of the Committee on Drug Education, and member and Advisor to the Boy Scouts' Explorer Post 7 Search and Rescue Team.  He served the Boy Scouts, Lions Club and Acton Jamboree.  He passed away in June 1995.  According to Acton's 1997 town report, the reconstructed South Acton Bridge was dedicated to Norman D. Lake for his service as Selectman and extraordinary volunteer.
