About Us
The Acton Historical Society is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 organization working to discover, preserve, and share the history of Acton, Massachusetts with the hope of spreading enthusiasm for and knowledge of our town. The Society is committed to learning about and disseminating the stories of all people of Acton from its earliest inhabitants to our newest residents.
What We Do
Our members seek, preserve, and share stories and objects from Acton. At our campus at 300 Main Street in Acton, we maintain the Jonathan Hosmer House museum, the Jenks Library, the Mowry building and and our barn, all filled with artifacts, documents, and photographs that illustrate and illuminate Acton's history.
Hosmer House Museum
The Society maintains the 1760 Jonathan Hosmer House, a restored saltbox colonial listed on the National Register. Home of Revolutionary War soldiers, it was added onto around 1796 to house multiple generations of the Hosmer family. The original outline has remained very little changed since that time.
Jenks Library
The Albert R. and Mabel G. Jenks Library contains an extensive collection of documents, images, maps, books and many more items useful to those interested in Acton's stories and its people.

Barn & Mowry Building
The barn and Mowry building contain a large number of artifacts, many of which illustrate Acton agriculture, businesses, and occupations.
