Meeting House Stone plaque

The plaque on the stone reads:


THIS STEPPING STONE WAS USED IN CONNECTION WITH THE FIRST MEETING HOUSE OF THE TOWN OF ACTON WHICH WAS BUILT HERE AS REQUIRED BY THE ACT OF INCORPORATION OF JULY 3, 1735.  THIS LOT WAS LATER THE SITE OF TWO SUCCESSIVE SCHOOLHOUSES THAT SERVED THE TOWN UNTIL 1957.


MEETING HOUSE HILL WAS BEAUTIFIED BY THE ACTON GARDEN CLUB WITH THE SUPPORT OF TOWN ORGANIZATIONS AND PRIVATE DONATIONS DURING 1964-1966.
